Voodoo has a lot of hype that makes it look like a really bad religion, but it's really not bad at all. At the heart of it, Voodoo believers, believe that the dead and the living live in the same realm, only we just can't see them. But we can contact them through ritual and guidance. It only looks evil due to the tools a Voodooist uses. The Voodoo doll, is not designed to be an instrument of punishment, instead it can be used to wish good thoughts about a person. Pins of different colours mean different things, as do the candles. To use a doll properly, one has to place something of that person on or in the doll, pins of the appropriate colour are stabbed in. The priestess, will then stare into the picture of the person they desire, while burning sage and such. If done correctly the thoughts should come true. Letters can be used as well in place of prayers if pinned to the doll.
