Johannes Josephus Aarts, a Dutch master known for his dramatic scenes, captured a haunting image titled "The Miners." Two emaciated figures, their skin stretched taut over their bones, toiled away in a dark mine lit only by a single flickering candle. This Halloween, however, a local artist used Photoshop to breathe new life, or rather, new death, into the scene. --- The once-familiar artwork transformed into a chilling Halloween spectacle. In one version, the "Emerald Dread," the mine became bathed in a sickly green glow. The candle's light cast long, grotesque shadows that writhed on the damp mine walls like hungry serpents.
