About

My name is Jeff Edwards and I am from Vian, Okla. I recently graduated with a degree in Visual Communications from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. I have been employed at my current job for 16 years as a Language Technologist at Cherokee Nation. The purpose of my department is to work with large technology companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft and Facebook to ensure the Cherokee language is supported on their phones, tablets and operating systems. Currently all major technology companies now recognize the Cherokee language and incorporate it with their products. But my true passion is creating Cherokee themed graphic arts. I do exclusively Cherokee themed graphic arts to promote the Cherokee language and I like using old cultural concepts but expressing them with modern electronic tools. I began my art career in 2011 and since that time have created over 200 pieces. I have no training, certifications or degrees in the graphics field and am self taught. I believe this is a huge part of my success because instead of knowing something is not possible from what I have been taught I simply figure out a way to make it happen.
