Starting at the youngest of age Russell exhibited advanced abilities in art music and invention with a keen interest in geometry and science. He could just draw near photographic still life's, play difficult passages on the piano and create working Rube Goldberg inventions with, at the time no formal training. His innate abilities have stuck with him through out. Russell's background covers concurrent paths in the technical and creative arts. This includes Graphic Design and Illustration. His path to the varied visual art genres in his portfolios covers a wide range from humor, to nature and spiritual to scientific. Many of these genres reflecting his diverse back ground both professionally and in his self directed projects. This includes engineering He then pursued commercial interiors and ergonomics integrating smart building technology with human factors to create healthy work environments. He has two issued patents from this period. Paralleling his professional career he pursued research into unified geometry and physics and visual mathematics with Mamikon Mnatsakanian. His work at Syndex pioneered Synchrographics, a visual method to illustrate fundamental scientific and metaphysical concepts identifying the underlying structure of number and the fundamental properties harmonics, holography and synchronicity. His research project on the bi-radial matrix started during this period. Collaboration included the late Marvin Solit at the foundation For New directions in Cambridge, MA. This resulted in copiously illustrated collaborative publications developing educational visual math curriculum, presentations at various work shops including the Synergetics Collaborative at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Synergetics 3 workshop at the Foundation For New Directions, Cambridge, MA. Here Russell Used advanced manipulative programming to generate his illustrations. This has become a new medium for him along with traditional media.
