One day, I adopted a very small dog, not knowing that she would not only change my life (for the better), that would inspire so many across the world. Her name? Betty Boop. Betty Boop was only four months old when I adopted her and weighed, at best, 2 pounds. A week after adopting her, she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and given a life expectancy of six months. She lived way past that! She lived for over ten years! You see, she had the will to live and it was through her determination and zest for life that I inspired me to be the best dog Mom I could be. She taught me so many life lessons that I carry with me today, through my personal life and professional. She showed me what unconditional love is. Throughout the years, I have rescued and adopted special needs dogs, some are medical and some are behavioral, each teaching me a new lesson and showing me how to be a better person, family member, friend, peer, and so on. I published Real Dogs Don't Whisper, a nonfiction book, to share my story, their stories to help others, to raise awareness for special needs dogs, and to give them a second chance. www.realdogsdontwhisper.com I took those stories, published a children's book series, Mister Spunk and His Friends, and Mister Spunk and Farley, teaching children the importance of love, kindness, anti-bullying, helping others (especially with special needs) and so much more.
