He holds 5 academic degrees in the Fine Arts, Psychology and Philosophy. In 1973/74 he lived and studied painting and printmaking in Austria under his mentor, Ernst Fuchs (1930 – 2015), co-founder of the School of Fantastic Realism. Rubinov's travels have been extensive, including India, where he studied meditation and wandered naked with a band of sadhus in 1978. In 1981 Philip established what was the first Visionary and Contemplative Art Academy in the world located in upstate New York. By 1995, the professor founded and directed the New School of Extended Studies at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado where he served as the Dean from 1991-1997. In 1997 Prof. Fuchs r­­­equested that Philip carry on his teachings and he has been holding his renowned international painting seminars ever since. In 2012, his partner Mantra Cora, joined him in organizing and teaching in the seminars. The artist has participated in more than 100 exhibitions and is represented in collections worldwide. His pioneering writings on consciousness and art as a tool for transformation continues to touch people around the globe. He is the author of DRINKING LIGHTNING - Art, Creativity and Transformation, PROMETHEAN FLAMES- Rekindling and Re-visioning the Creative Fire, and the forthcoming work- EYES OF THE SOUL - Exploring Inspiration in Art with Forewords to these books by Ernst Fuchs, Ken Wilber, Prof. Michael Schwartz and Robyn Sean Peterson. He spends his time painting, writing, traveling and teaching in the USA, Europe and Indonesia and continues to move toward establishing an Integral Arts Center.
