Paul Cox was born in Hobart, Tasmania and like most people, Paul had a love for drawing from a very young age. Taking every opportunity to sketch whether it be drawing freehand or copying the latest Andy Capp, Obelix and Asterix cartoons or the daily sketches of football and  cricket players in the aily newpaper. Continuing down the creative route, Paul entered a number of competitions, even selling an acrylic painting of a horse race around the age of 12. At the ae age 14, Paul entered an art compeition at the Hobart Museum and won first prize. More recently Paul was awarded first prize for one of surrealim pieces. ​Currently focusing on portraitures and surrealism, Paul Cox is a Melbourne based artist who works with both acrylics and oils. After working throughout the Middle East and Asia, Paul is now based in the picturesque Macedon Ranges and enjoys spending most of his time in his home studio. Paul finds inspiration from many of the many old master artists such as: Van Van Gogh, Caravaggio, Salvador Dali, John Singer Sargent as well as a number of contemporary artists such Sergy Gusev, Yupari, Greg "Crayola Simkins and Todd Scherr just to name a few. ​
