Texture photography may be defined as the creation of photographic images that highlight the texture of a subject. Texture photography includes close-up or macro shots of a subject detailing its surface characteristics or patterns. These patterns may be naturally occurring or man-made. Close-up photographs of these patterns create abstract images that are completely dissociated from the original subject. For example, the close-up photograph of the texture of a leaf may reveal an intricate network of veins that resembles a subway grid.
