About
The founding members of the FCF pioneered the husbandry of the ocelot and margay, small South American wild cat species. Over the past fifty years, the FCF has evolved into an international organization.
Members are private conservationists, educators, breeders, sanctuaries, zoo keepers, exhibitors, researchers and others interested in conservation of the 37 species of wild felid, many of whom are facing the unthinkable: extinction.
The close relationships our members have with their felines give us a unique opportunity to understand feline behavior and formulate effective husbandry techniques. Research and experience has proven that the small cat species reproduce better in the quiet habitats created by the private conservation facilities.
Private conservationists seek to insure that captive gene pools are large and varied enough to be self-sustaining without drawing upon wild populations.
