About
In 2010 I was honored by being selected as the New Hampshire Teacher of the Year. During that year and the years that have followed I have been lucky enough to have travelled around my beautiful home state, country, and even to Europe! - an experience that has changed my life in many ways. We are a quirky breed we science teachers, we tend to see the world through a different lens and I've always been fascinated in trying to convey that mind's eye to anyone willing to listen.
In Florence, 50+ high school students gazed up upon the extraordinary artwork adorning the inner facade of the city's cathedral, the 'Duomo'. Hidden behind that beautiful artwork was a feat of engineering unparalleled in the world, and it occurred to me how art could be used as a gateway to a greater understanding and appreciation of STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
This store is a reflection of my attempt to squeeze the ARTS into the STEM acronym and change it to STEAM; because I deeply believe that the arts are an implicit and integral part of any education. Unfortunately, I think I'm a better science teacher than artist, but I do enjoy drawing, (keeps me out of trouble), and my students at least say they like it, so for what it's worth, perhaps some of you will too. Thanks.
