My little adventures in hustles started young. My grandmother used to take me to clean houses and office building at 10. She made it seem as if it was an incentive because she paid cash. My older brother and I rotated in our shifts on weekends. My brother and I took the cash to buy 50 cent candy at the local store. We made 10 piece bags and sold them for $2.00. It was all his idea. $15.00 profits off $5.00 investments. Then we proceeded to buy large boxes of chips at Sam's club when they were $5 for 32 packs. Sell each bag for 50c on the bus and in class. $11 profit. Then we sold Hot Wheel cars with payment plans on the playground. I realized I had a knack for chat. One day our principal announced a writing contest for a new ATM in town. We lived in a very small town so it was a big deal. I named the ATM. I won $100 and a picture in the paper. Power98fm hosted a writing contest for Carolina Panthers’ tickets. I won tickets and my mom picked them up after she got off work. She knew before I did because they announced it over the radio while I was in school. I won three more writing contests in elementary school. So, I picked up the pen. I freelanced all through high school finding gigs on Freelance Writing. Jumped on College Recruiter to create a portfolio then was offered my first long-term gig. This was 2008 and I felt amazing. When real life kicked in, I got a job and went to work. Still writing on the side. Ghostwriter. Stay in the background; keep learning the craft. So I started TDK Media Publishers in 2020. Still writing on the side, but I think it's time to step out of shadows.
