Popular ID Badges

ID cards are used in all sorts of professions and all levels of society: you could be a student wielding a hallway pass or an FBI agent investigating a case. While we don’t get many secret service members ordering from Zazzle, we do get a lot of custom from journalists, volunteers and people working in the medical field. That’s why our Independent Creators have been hard at work designing thousands of themes, colour schemes and templates for you to customise. Here are some of our favourites (and our customers’ favourites, too):

• Employee ID Badges: "Hold it, sir! Are you a registered employee of this company?" Enhance the security of your headquarters and prevent unauthorised access with these employee ID badges.
• Volunteer ID Badges: "Wait a minute, ma’am! Do you have an ID badge that says you’re a volunteer?" Ensure that you know where every member of your charity group or fundraising organisation is at all times with these volunteer ID badges.
• Press ID Badges: "Stop right there, sir! Only members of the media are allowed beyond this point." Never worry about being denied an interview or backstage access again with these press ID badges.
• Medical ID Badges: "You again, miss? Do you have the requisite pass that allows you to be in this area of the hospital?" Medical personnel cards are essential in the health industry, given the vulnerable people and situations involved.
• Event Staff ID Badges: "For the last time, sir! In order to be here, you will need to present the appropriate ID badge." It’s important that, at an event like a concert, people know whom to ask for help. Make it clear to everyone in attendance that you’re on hand to answer questions with these badges for event staff.

Before you start brandishing your ID card to passers-by and pulling rank on your coworkers, however, you need to personalise one of the templates we’ve shown you thus far. Indeed, almost every ID badge is also a photo ID card – that is, it includes a headshot of the person it refers to, and so, at the very least, you’ll need to upload a photo. To do this, follow the step-by-step instructions below, which will also explain how to swap out any placeholder text with your name, title and employer:

• Step 1: Select a design you like and click on its thumbnail to be taken to the product page. Here you can see lots of additional information about our ID cards, such as the material they’re made from and whether any discounts are available.
• Step 2: Once you're on the product page, choose a desired ‘Orientation,’ ‘Attachment’ and ‘Design Theme,’ if applicable. Choosing ‘Lanyard’ means that your ID badge will be strung onto a loop that you hang around your neck; ‘Retractable’ means that this cord will also be easy to shorten and extend. Meanwhile, the ‘Metal Clip’ allows you to fasten the card to a pocket or belt.
• Step 3: Click on 'Personalise' and 'Edit Using Design Tool.' You can then add images and text elements using Zazzle's design interface – this is where you'll add your own personal touch to your product! Use the ‘Uploads’ button on the left-hand side of the design tool to browse for photos, and then the ‘Text’ function to input your details.
• Step 4: Click 'Done' and see your final design! Congratulations on your hard work – we think you comported yourself very professionally throughout all of that. You might even be able to handle our custom ID badges, where there are no pre-established elements to draw upon and you can design something from scratch!

As we suggested earlier, a typical ID badge includes a photo, your name, your position and the name of the company or organisation you work for. However, there are a couple of other details you could add. For example, our Independent Creators often incorporate barcodes or QR code into their ID card designs as they recognise that the card might be used as a keycard or swipe card (but you can always delete this if it won’t be used for that purpose). ID cards are annoying – and even slightly dangerous – to lose, so you could explain how the misplaced card should be returned ("If found, please return to… "). The company logo and an ID number are other common elements.

Please also remember that, when you order an ID card, we can’t always assume that you’re exactly who you say you are (and don’t be offended if that’s the case)! For verification purposes, we will need to reach out and receive confirmation from you or a member of your staff that you have permission to create company badges with Zazzle. This isn’t a lengthy step in the process, however, and once we know that your cause is legitimate, we’ll be happy to produce your card.
