Yoshiaki KATO was a busho (Japanese military commander) and daimyo (Japanese feudal lord) from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the Edo period. He became the lord of the Iyo-Matsuyama Domain and later the first lord of the Mutsu Aizu Domain. He was the first head of the Kato family of the Omi Minakuchi Domain. His father was Noriaki KATO (Noriaki KISHI), a hereditary vassal who served the Tokugawa clan (Matsudaira clan). He was one of the Shichihonyari (seven spears) and the Shichisho (seven generals) of Shizugatake. His common name was Magoroku. Yoshiaki used the name of Shigekatsu in his later years, and at first he called himself Shigekatsu.
