ABOUT THIS ARTWORK - .....‘ZEN CARNIVAL’ draws inspiration from all corners of my mind and globe! Where do I begin? I have always wanted to create a carousel chow illustration. Recently when the only porcelain carousel chow that I made resurfaced in a private collection I decided to strike while the iron was hot!! The second inspiration was my fascination with the annual Nagoya horse racing festival in Tibet with its elaborately costumed horses and riders. It all started so innocently with the chow embellishments of tassels and beads. The theme quickly carried over into the pagoda canopy featuring a foo dog and temple bells! I didn’t stop there! The abstract Himilayas provide a beautiful backdrop to all the warm colours and the Tibetan prayer flags weave colour through the scenery Finally, the Himalayan blue poppies bloom in celebration of such a Zen and festive day💙
