Young Takeda Shingen Hunting the Magic Tanuki - Yo Poster

Young Takeda Shingen Hunting the Magic Tanuki - Yo Poster

The Awakening of a Legend: Young Takeda Shingen and the Mystical Tanuki Experience a legendary moment from the youth of Japan’s most famous warlord. This masterpiece by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi depicts Takeda Katsuchiyo (the childhood name of the great Takeda Shingen) demonstrating his fearless spirit long before he became the "Tiger of Kai." The Story: According to legend, the young Katsuchiyo ventured out into the mountains on a moonlit night to confront a giant, ancient Tanuki (shape-shifting raccoon dog) that had been terrorizing the local villagers with its supernatural illusions. While others fled in fear, the young samurai-to-be stood his ground, aiming his bow at the beast. This story serves as a testament to the iron will and courage that would later make him a supreme military commander. Visual Highlights: The Moonlit Atmosphere: Yoshitoshi is celebrated for his "Moon" series, and here he uses the pale moonlight to create a chilling, suspenseful environment. The Shadowy Adversary: The enormous, hairy silhouette of the Tanuki looms in the background, representing the chaotic forces of nature being tamed by the order of the Samurai. Precision and Detail: From the intricate patterns of the youth’s kimono to the tension in the bowstring, Yoshitoshi’s late-career precision is on full display. Why it’s a must-have: For fans of Japanese history and mythology, this print captures the bridge between the human world and the spirit realm. It is a powerful symbol of bravery, focus, and the "warrior spirit" (Bushido).

While I would certainly have preferred to have this quirky poster framed, for what I could afford, this poster option was great. It looks really good on my wall and I'm sure will draw some interesting comments. I'm very happy with the printing quality and colours.

I was given a small budget to decorate a free clinic. I ordered many of the posters from Zazzle because I could select various sizes that fit frames we could re-purpose. The quality of the printing is fine and there's a wide selection of subjects and styles to choose from. The paper quality on most of the items I ordered was decent. For some reason, though, the Ibis poster on "Perfect Poster (Glossy Finish)" is on very flimsy paper. It'll look fine when framed, but I would upgrade the paper choice if I did this over again. The image quality, colors, and printing quality were fine -exactly what I expected.
