William Morris: Snakeshead Throw Pillow

The elaborate "Snakeshead" pattern was created by the English designer William Morris (1834-1896) in 1877, and showcases one of his favourite wildflowers, the fritillary. This rendition, printed on plain weave cotton, is now in the collection of the Cleveland Art Institute (https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1937.695). Superluminal's Portable Imagery specialises in home furnishings and paper goods featuring designs by William Morris; classic paisleys, batiks, Indian, Japanese, and Chinese textiles; carpet patterns from Turkey, Persia, the Caucasus, India, and Central Asia; Moorish and Turkish ceramic designs; flora and fauna from antiquarian books; alchemical images and Persian miniatures.
