William Morris Quest for Holy Grail:Shield Forest Invitation Belly Band

William Morris Quest for Holy Grail:Shield Forest Invitation Belly Band

The design is a collage of two paintings from Morris's “Quest for the Holy Grail Tapestries”. William Morris’s “Quest for the Holy Grail Tapestries: Verdure with Deer and Shields” (1900) is an exquisite work of art that reflects the artist’s mastery in combining nature with mythological and mediaeval themes. This tapestry, part of a series exploring the quest for the Holy Grail, features a lush verdant landscape, filled with vibrant foliage and intertwined branches. In the foreground, deer gracefully roam the forest, their presence adding an element of life to the tranquil scene. The addition of shields suggests a mediaeval or chivalric context, tying the piece to the legend of the Holy Grail and knights in pursuit of honour and glory. The intricate details of the foliage, the calm beauty of the animals, and the symbolic shields evoke both the natural world and the age-old quest for the sacred relic, embodying Morris’s style of merging artistry with storytelling. The deep greens and earthy tones enhance the timeless, vintage feel of the tapestry, making it a powerful representation of Morris’s vision of a harmonious relationship between nature and the mythic past. William Morris's “Quest for the Holy Grail Tapestries: The Arming and Departure of the Knights” (1895–1896) is a magnificent depiction of the chivalric journey, drawn from the legend of King Arthur and his knights in search of the Holy Grail. This tapestry captures a dramatic moment as the knights prepare for battle. The image is filled with rich, vibrant colours that reflect the intensity and grandeur of the mediaeval world. The knights are seen donning their armour, their shields emblazoned with heraldic designs, and their expressions embody determination and honour as they embark on their quest. The intricate details of the knights’ armour, the horses they ride, and the lush landscapes all contribute to the grandeur of the scene. Morris’s characteristic use of rich, deep hues, especially the reds, golds, and blues, enhances the antique, vintage atmosphere of the piece, creating an immersive sense of history and legend.

I have been ordering these for quite a while now and they are great! They are meant for invitations but I use the in house custom editor and put my own words on and use around my own brand tea towels. The card is nice and firm and the print is clear. It is great to be self adhesive too as it looks better than having to use sticky tape to secure in place. The printing is good every time

They are great for invitations but because they are a little bulky, they aren't tight enough. However, it might suit others but they are still perfectly completed. So nice and pretty! It just didn't suit my invitation as I didn't have enough to fit in the middle. For example, I have placed my QR code card in front of my invitation and the Band was around it but it didn't hold the QR code in the middle, it just dropped. You need enough cards to have the band. Otherwise, still perfect. .
