The luxurious "Acanthus" pattern was designed by William Morris in 1874; this rendition, crafted in velveteen, comes from the book, The art of William Morris, by Aylmer Vallance (London: Chiswick Press, 1897), in the collection of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute Library via the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/details/artofwilliammorr00vall). Superluminal's Portable Imagery specialises in home furnishings and paper goods featuring designs by William Morris; classic paisleys, batiks, Indian, Japanese, and Chinese textiles; carpet patterns from Turkey, Persia, the Caucasus, India, and Central Asia; Moorish and Turkish ceramic designs; flora and fauna from antiquarian books; alchemical images and Persian miniatures.
