William Morris Cray Wallpaper Pattern Stone Coaster

The Cray design is one of William Morris's classic wallpapers from the 1800s. It is detailed in rich blues and reds. It was designed in 1884 and was one of the more popular wallpapers that hung in Victorian homes. William Morris was England's most famous nineteenth century textile designer. Morris' wallpapers showed his love of nature, which was the focus of all of his designs, and was a member of the arts and crafts movement. The coasters are gorgeous, a quality feel and heavy weight. They look like a precious archeological find. A rustic stone juxtaposed with a modern floral black and white print. I like the way the print goes slightly imperfect on the cut stone edges giving them a kind-of natural beauty. They are a great product and I use them to protect the arms of my couch from hot cups of coffee. Printing is good happy with the quality.
