William Blake, Songs of Experience, Reproduction Antique Print. 1794. Original is in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University Library. The author and printer is the great English mystic William Blake,1757-1827.
This is a watercolor pen and ink painting of a man walking in nature with an angel seated on the top of his head. He holds the cherub's hands and balances him on his head as he walks. In the background sheep graze.
This is the frontpiece for Blake's Songs of Experience, the companion work to Songs of Innocence.
William Blake was a poet, painter, engraver and great mystic.
