Camarguais are an ancient breed of horse indigenous to the Camargue region in southern France. One of the oldest breeds in the world, for thousands of years these small horses have lived wild in the marshes and wetlands of the Rhône River delta, adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea. Born dark brown or black, upon reaching adulthood their hair coat has changed to white.
