‘White Wind’ by Elizabeth Kyle 1987 Acrylic on Canvas © This is my signature painting. As a Visionary Surrealist I paint from visions. On this occasion I asked to see a girl riding a unicorn, and was given this painting in its entirety. As long as I remained in the same loving frame of mind, the vision would stay. It revealed itself like a jigsaw puzzle - a small piece each day on an otherwise blank canvas. I painted every day, usually from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. for five months until completion. It was as though I had to earn the privilege of painting what I had asked for, as during that time I had some of the hardest challenges and decisions of my life: I had to choose between money or love: between advice from others, and my feelings. The painting guided me in my choice. When, for a day, I considered the alternative her skirt turned into rags: the princess turned into a pauper. Then there was no doubt I was right. This is my story. Maybe she has a special one for you. You may have noticed that lines radiate out from her heart like a star. I hope the Love of the Unicorn, White Wind, radiates to you also.
