Frederic Remington was an American painter and writer known for art depicting the cowboys, soldiers and Native Americans of the Old West. His love of the rough heroic cowboys and soldiers took him west as a journalist/illustrator and he producing over 3000 paintings and drawings. This painting is called “Downing the Nigh Leader” and depicts an Indian band attacking a stagecoach and the lead horse being downed by an attacking brave with a spear.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
