In the constellation Cassiopeia, 11,000 light-years distant, the remnants of a supernova known as Cas A unfurl. Illuminated by Webb's MIRI, it reveals itself anew: curtains of warm dust in vibrant orange and red fringe its exterior, marking the collision of ejected star material with the circumstellar. Within, a mottle of bright pink knots and filaments – a testament to the star's essence, now glowing with heavy elements and dust. A perplexing green loop sprawls across the cavity, confounding scholars with its unexpected intricacy. It's a celestial tableau, brought to light by MIRI, a joint venture of NASA, ESA, and other institutions.
