Waxeye - Tauhou , New Zealand Bird Snowflake Pewter Christmas Ornament
Tauhou is a small bird that lives in the New Zealand forest, and nearly everywhere else, they colonised from Australia 150 years ago. The European Name is Silver Eye, but they also go by Wax-eye and White-eye. The bird in this print is drawn incorporating Maori Koru patterns. The koru (Māori for "loop") is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolising new life, growth, strength and peace.
