It always reminds me of my Grandma Westerfield's very long dark hair when she combed it out ... it was usually braided and coiled around her head like a halo with pearl pearl pins. I used to own 50 original Wallace Nutting framed platinotype (platinum print) pictures. This one always reminded me when I was little staying over night at my Grandma Westerfield's house and in the morning light watching her unbraid and comb out her long dark hair in her living room as I sat on her bed in her dark bedroom. Then she would carefully braid her long dark hair and coil it around her head pinning it in place. Some times for dressing up she would put in pearl head pins around her head looking like a crown or halo. Later, after she died and I was in my 50s I found out that she was directly descended from Mediaeval and Viking Era kings of Norway. Her mother, my great grandmother was 100% Norwegian because all 4 of her grandparents immigrated to America from Norway in the mid 1850s. This made my Grandma Westerfield 50% Norwegian and my dad 25% Norwegian and each of us kids 12.5% Norwegian.
