Virgin Mary & Jesus with Angels Playing Music
"Glorification of The Virgin" was created by Dutch artist Geertgen tot Sint Jans, circa 1480. Mary and Jesus are depicted standing on a salamander. The salamander represents virginity, courage and faith and in this way it symbolises the Madonna. It also represents the "King of Fire" and is associated with Christ who baptised through the fire of the Holy Spirit. The Virgin Mary and the child Jesus are surrounded by musical angels playing a symphony of instruments in the Heavens. This is the inner right wing of a diptych painted with oil on wood panel.
We suggest the semi-gloss paper or better for beautiful colour and for a quality print that will last for years.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
