In Mediaeval times at the castle banquet, there was the butler and his alcoholic drinks store in the buttery, the pantler in charge of the pantry with its supply of bread, the baker, and all kinds of specialists depending on the size of the castle such as a sauce chef, a dessert chef, a wafer maker, a brewer, a slaughterer, a poulterer, and a fruiterer. There were members of staff responsible for specific aspects of the mediaeval dining experience like the tablecloths, the candles, and the silver dining service.
