The Sacred Egyptian Bean by Robert John Thornton, 1807. One of the many exquisite illustrative plates to be found in "The Temple of Flora." Vintage illustration botanical nature design featuring pink and yellow lotus flowers with large green leaves in a pond. The lotus flower has come to be associated with purity and beauty in the religions of Buddhism and Hinduism. In Buddhism the lotus is associated with purity, spiritual awakening and faithfulness.
