A vintage children's book illustration by Clara M. Burd from the Swiss story of "Heidi" features a young Heidi at home on their Alpine farm with her grandfather and three of their flock of sheep. The American artist, Clara M. Burd (1873-1933) was born in New York, and studied art in New York City and later in Paris. She is best known for her illustrations for children’s books, but she also illustrated for magazine covers, designed stained glass and murals for churches, and painted children’s portraits and scenes from historical periods.
