Vintage - Girl Who Wouldn't Brush Her Hair, Poster
This vintage illustration and the poetic stanza with it are from a poem called "The Little Girl Who Would Not Brush Her Hair" as found in the 1860 book by W. Newman titled "Aunt Oddemadodd's Whispers About Certain Little People" which was a humourous book written to teach and instill morals of the time in children. The poem is quite long and can be found by searching for the poem's title on the Internet. It tells of a little girl who refused to brush or comb her hair. She fell asleep under a tree, and while she was sleeping, birds brought moss, twigs and leaves and created nests in her hair. The birds hatched their young and lived in the nest they'd created in the girl's hair. When she awoke, her head felt heavy and she began screaming once she realised her hair was full of birds. She was never able to shake the birds out of her hair. The text on the poster is the last stanza of the poem. Posters are available in your choice of sizes and styles, however, not all images fit well on all sizes.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
