Vintage - Clumber Spaniel Dogs,

Vintage artwork by John Emms features a trio of Clumber Spaniels, two of which are cuddled up and sleeping while the third sits upright and keeps an eye on things. The English artist, John Emms (1844-1912) was an avid hunter and became famous for his paintings of sporting scenes, horses and dogs, particularly Foxhounds and Terriers. He married a woman from Lyndhurst in 1880, and after a brief residence in London, they returned to Lyndhurst where they established a home and studio called The Firs. Emms lived there for the remainder of his life. He was famous not only for his artwork, but also for his big personality, flamboyant style of dressing, and often careless spending of money. This card is blank inside for your own message.
