This is a beautiful vintage Chinese advertisement from the early 20th century! These paintings and photographs were primarily produced in Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s, blending Eastern and Western design and often showcase the tension between modern (sometimes racy) women and traditional Shanghai beauty. This retro cigarette advertisement features a modern woman smoking with a cigarette holder, wearing a modern floral Chinese shirt and pants, while lounging on a silk couch.
