Vintage - Child Meets Woodland Fairies,

A vintage book illustration by Florence Susan Harrison from a book she wrote and illustrated titled, "Elfin Song - A Book of Verse and Pictures." The illustration depicts a little boy who has fallen and hurt his knee in the woods. He is surprised by a group of curious fairies who come out from the trees and surround him, one offering him an apple in an extended hand. The artist, Florence Susan Harrison (1877-1955) was born on board the Windsor Castle, a ship bound from London to Brisbane, Australia. Her father, Norwood Harrison, was a master mariner and ship’s captain, and his family spent much time of their time at sea with him. In between voyages, Florence attended a school run by a great-aunt in Folkestone, England. As an adult, Florence lived in England and for some time in Belgium. She was an Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite illustrator of poetry and children’s books including some books of her own poetry. Following Florence’s death, her artwork was often mistakenly attributed to Emma Florence Harrison, a Victorian-era artist who exhibited at the Royal Academy in the 19th century. To this day, Florence Susan Harrison’s artwork can be found on many Internet art websites incorrectly attributed to Emma Florence Harrison. This card is blank inside for your own message.

Lovely quality cards. Nice to get a real traditional Chrismassy theme in Australia, not the beach and Australian animals stuff. Excellent, would use again

This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US! We are so proud of him and this card was so just right for him! I couldn’t tell because I had it sent directly to him because I am in Australia & he is in the US but he said it was beautiful!!
