Vintage Chicago, Regal Theatre Father & Son Day Postcard

The south side of Chicago was the home the cities first African American neighbourhoods. There were poor but there was also a thriving middle class and there were many thriving areas. The area around 47th street and what is now King Drive was an entertainment mecca and the flagship for the area was the Regal Theatre located right on the southeast corner. It was a source of pride in the area for while it was owned by whites most of the staff were black and the venue played home to some of the biggest acts of the day. This photo is from the Library of Congress.

Everyone loves a letter in the mail that’s not a bill and this certainly satisfied many! We have received the most wonderful feedback on the quality of these postcards. We opted for these so we didn’t need to extra cost of envelopes. Although delivery took a little longer than I expected, they were absolutely worth the wait! Perfect! The font was just what we wanted, the spacing was perfect and the print quality of the photo was beautiful
