Vintage Charles Burton Barber Suspense Stone Coaster
Incorporated in the design of this product is a beautiful print of "Suspense", an 1894 oil on canvas painting by Charles Burton Barber (1845–1894) Barber was an English painter who became very popular with sporting and animal painting and had much success with his paintings of children and their pets. He was regarded as one of Britain's finest animal painters and received commissions from Queen Victoria to do paintings of her and her grandchildren. Barber was a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Many of his paintings are in the Royal collection.

The coasters are gorgeous, a quality feel and heavy weight. They look like a precious archeological find. A rustic stone juxtaposed with a modern floral black and white print. I like the way the print goes slightly imperfect on the cut stone edges giving them a kind-of natural beauty.
They are a great product and I use them to protect the arms of my couch from hot cups of coffee. Printing is good happy with the quality.
