This luminous Maxfield Parrish print is a great example of Parrish's distinctive use of dazzling colours and saturated hues. Entitled "School Days", it was designed for Collier's September 12th issue in 1908. Maxfield Parrish (1870 – 1966) was an American painter and illustrator active during the Golden Age of Illustration. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealised neo-classical imagery. Parrish devised many innovative techniques, and is not thought of as part of any traditional movement or school of art. Instead he developed an original style, unique in execution and never duplicated. During his life Parrish exhibited considerable influence upon other illustrators and artists, an influence which continues through the present.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
