Vincent van Gogh - The Mulberry Tree Large Clock

The Mulberry Tree, painted in 1889 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. A solitary mulberry tree erupts in yellow-orange foliage against a brilliant blue sky, with thick paint making leaves, ground and air feel almost sculptural. Van Gogh was especially pleased with this autumn canvas and wrote to his family about the completely yellow tree standing out against the sky. The vigourous brushwork and high colour contrast make the modest motif one of the clearest examples of his mature Saint-Rémy style.
