Vincent van Gogh - Roses Large Clock

Roses / Still Life: Vase with Roses / Vase with Pink Roses, painted in 1890 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. A profusion of roses rises from a tan jug in a broad horizontal composition, with a few blooms lying beside the vessel. The flowers were originally pinker, but the red pigments have faded, leaving many petals pale today. Painted shortly before Van Gogh left Saint-Rémy, this is the horizontal companion to the other large rose still life from the same late group, and its thick, visible brushwork turns the bouquet into a vigorous study of complementary color.
