View of the Charles bridge in Prague Postcard

This postcard features a dramatic view of Prague’s Charles Bridge framed through a dark stone arch, with statues and the historic city beyond. The Gothic bridge was begun in 1357 under Charles IV and completed in 1402, replacing a mediaeval predecessor damaged by flooding. Its later sequence of Baroque religious sculptures transformed the crossing into a ceremonial open-air route linking the Old Town with Malá Strana and Prague Castle.
