View of Bridge Over Ina River, Nojiri by Hiroshige Tea Towel
Distant View of the Bridge Over the Ina River at Nojiri (c. 1837) by artist: Andō Hiroshige is a vintage Japanese fine art wood block painting. Asian art featuring the Ina River with trees and mountains on either side and a bridge crossing over the waterfall. This image originally came from a woodblock print from the series "The Sixty-Nine Stations of the Kisokaido."
About the artist:
Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重) (aka Andō) (1797-1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, one of the last great artists in that tradition. He was a member of the Utagawa school which comprised dozens of artists, and stood at the forefront of 19th century woodblock prints. Hiroshige is especially noted for using unusual vantage points, seasonal allusions, and striking colours. He adapted Western principles of perspective and receding space to his own works in order to achieve a sense of realistic depth.
