The First Photograph Presented here is the first permanent photographic image, created by Joseph Nicphore by taking a picture out of his window in Le Gras, France, in either 1826 or 1827. The original image was left in England at the time and provides the basis for this careful restoration that was undertaken in the 1950's. Ironically, the first permanent photograph is of of nothing more grandiose than the out-buildings of Niepce's heavily mortgaged estate.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
