Vase with Roses by Vincent Van Gogh, oil on canvas 1890, is a still life painting of a large, boisterously arranged bunch of pale blossoming flowers in a pottery vase. Van Gogh painted in thick, swirling strokes of impasto oil colours with variations of pink, white, yellow and green with vivid green accents and dark outlines that capture the inner life of the motif. Vase with Roses was completed in the south of France in the final years of the artist’s life.
