Valentino and Rambova: Lovers Art Print (1923)

Valentino and Rambova: Lovers Art Print (1923)

Journey back to the enchanting era of silent cinema with our vintage-style art print capturing the spirited romance and creative synergy of Natacha Rambova and Rudolph Valentino. Embodying the essence of early lobby cards and classic silent film advertising, this art piece immortalises the compelling relationship between two icons of the 1920s. Natacha Rambova, an American film costume designer, set designer, and occasional actress, dazzled the Hollywood scene with her exceptional talent. Her life story is one of multifaceted endeavours, having transitioned from the glitz of Hollywood to her profound passion for Egyptology in the later years of her life. Hailing from a prominent family in Salt Lake City and raised within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rambova's journey into the world of design and the arts was both fascinating and inspiring. Starting as a dancer under the tutelage of Russian ballet choreographer Theodore Kosloff, she later found herself in Los Angeles, establishing herself as a distinguished costume designer for Hollywood film productions. It was in this creative landscape that she crossed paths with Rudolph Valentino. The two kindred spirits shared a rich relationship, culminating in a two-year marriage that ignited widespread celebrity status. Their bond was not merely romantic but also rooted in mutual interests encompassing art, poetry, and spiritualism. However, their collaborative ventures faced scrutiny, with colleagues attributing expensive career flops to Rambova's perceived control over Valentino's work. After parting ways with Valentino, Rambova ventured into diverse ventures, from managing her own clothing store in Manhattan to marrying an aristocrat and embracing her lifelong fascination with Egyptology. Her dedication to historical accuracy and innovative designs in fashion and film left an indelible mark, influencing fashion and art even beyond the realm of cinema. Our art print encapsulates the essence of their passionate love and artistic collaboration, reflecting the vibrant personalities and the creative energy that chraacterised their partnership in 1923. Ideal for enthusiasts of vintage cinema and cultural history, this artwork honours the legacy and timeless connection between Natacha Rambova and Rudolph Valentino, commemorating a captivating era of silent film and their enduring impact on the world of art and design.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
