Vacation Postcard

HOTEL? LOL I think not! ;) Gosh, I just love our old camper!! ...folks on here always ask about all the running around we do, so here it is [finally!] This is how we roll, guys! LOL This is our old beat-up dodge, with our old beat-up camper [& sometimes we have the small box trailer hitched up in back for the generator, bikes, & firewood! ;) There's not too mny places this poor old goat hasn't been! & yes, it's an ancient camper, but totally FuN & it allows us to go where we want ,when we want - complete with a fully functional stove, oven, fridge/freezer & double sink; couch & dining table that easily makes into a big bed for the kiddos - plus our bed up top over the cab; bathroom not only has a sink & toilet, but a shower as well! & there's TONS of closet / storage space for clothes, food, pots & pans & supplies for 5! Yes, the kids do have a portable dvd player & bring along movies [& though they rarely use it, it can come in handy when they've had entirely too much of our camping ;) I would highly recommend this size/style for anyone who loves the outdoors & likes to travel! Between hubby & myself, & 3 kids between the ages of 17 - 5yo, this is the ultimate safari machine & no, honestly, we never feel crowded! Typically, the only time all of us are in it all at one time is for meals & sleeping - otherwise we're all out exploring! Our day starts when we wake up, fold & rearrange the bedding & set up the couch & table. Then it's breakfast time - usually scrambled eggs & ham or if we're in a hurry just oatmeal, cereal or something quick. Hot cocoa & instant coffee. Then we're off on our way. If we're lucky, like last weekend, we'll run across a big lake & check it out. The kids liked the Piute Lake so much we went ahead & set up camp & stayed. Becky caught a huge trout! [Yes, we released it, though, LadyD!! ;) We built a campfire that lasted well into the next morning. Lucy lost her shoe in the mud along the bank. LOL Kris & the girls picked up trash along the bank before nightfall.... believe it or not - nearly 6 plastic grocery bags full!!! But they had fun & cleaned up the area a lot! We played horseshoes for a while. We made hot dogs for lunch & spaghetti for dinner. The kids even had marshmallows on chopsticks melted in the fire for dessert ;) Then a pretty late midnight bedtime until the next day ;)
