This design features the national flag of the First East Turkestan Republic, which was a short-lived breakaway Islamic republic founded in 1933. The flag is known as Kökbayraq (Көкбайрақ), which means "sky flag" or "blue flag". The flag features a white crescent (waxing moon) on a light blue background. The flag is used today as a symbol of the East Turkestan independence movement. It has been used by Uyghur activists in protests against China's re-education camp system in Xinjiang. The coasters are gorgeous, a quality feel and heavy weight. They look like a precious archeological find. A rustic stone juxtaposed with a modern floral black and white print. I like the way the print goes slightly imperfect on the cut stone edges giving them a kind-of natural beauty.
They are a great product and I use them to protect the arms of my couch from hot cups of coffee. Printing is good happy with the quality.
