The crew is relaxing on deck after the Battle of Hampton Roads. Reading letters, smoking, playing board games. Of the six men standing at the right side of the picture, the one closest to the edge is First Master Stodder, 3rd Assistant Engineer, and the one standing closest to the turret is Pay Master William Keeler. The cooling shade canopy has been re-erected above the turret, the guns pulled back.
