This late 19th century US Military History print features USS Essex, a 1000-tonne ironclad river gunboat that had been purchased by the US Army in September, 1861, to fortify its Western Gunboat Flotilla. On August 5, 1862, she joined Rear Admiral Farragut’s squadron as the sole ironclad vessel in lower flanks of the Mississippi River, and played a pivotal role in repelling the attack of enemy forces on Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
