University of Beringia Football

Mythical University of Beringia's iconic primitive Woolly Mammoth mascot on a football helmet. Next to that is the school's official seal painted on a hand drum, or shaman's drum, which are common to many cultures in Siberia and far northern North America. The seal features a simple, brown line drawing of a Woolly Mammoth with text reading, "University of Beringia," "ESTD 20000 BCE," and the school motto: "TREAD LIGHTLY UPON THE LAND." The image has a primitive-ish feel to it - after all the school was established 22000 years ago, long before modern materials and printers. Both are superimposed on a digital rendering of a caribou (reindeer) fur. Beringia is the name given to the Bering land bridge and areas of both Alaska and Siberia which bordered upon it. The U of B's programs in Arctic ecology, wildlife management and lithic microblade engineering are unmatched. Go Mammoths!
