This ornament is based on Twisted Fleur de Lis metal sculptures that can be viewed at Twisted Fleur de Lis website. Metal sculptures with a New Orleans twist. The first steel fleur de lis pieces were made within weeks after Hurricane Katrina's wrath inflicted heavy devastation in my hometown, Slidell, LA. Why the Twist? The twisting was initially done to suggest the extreme rotational forces of Hurricane Katrina but it also came represent the status of the area after the storm. I was extremely happy to find a tree ornament for my Occupational Therapist daughter. (I bought one a few years ago for my Paramedic son) & prior to seeing this I was trying to work out how I could create something similar for her.
